ILORI Program from Costa Rica Shares about their Program and Free Children's Animation Stories

I had the honor to meet some of  the beautiful staff from ILORI at an international Neohumanist Education Conference in July of 2015. Their work and dedication are so inspiring to me.  I am thrilled they are sharing about themselves; along with some free amazing animations stories they have developed in English and Spanish. I know you will enjoy reading about their work. Check out their webpages and link to the stories.

Deep in the heart of San José, Costa Rica lies the community of La Carpio, an informal settlement that around 25,000 people, about half of them migrants, call home. Children grow up in this community surrounded by poverty, violence and insecurity. It is here that the ILORI Educational Program was born.

A safe space in the middle of La Carpio, ILORI not only provides with academic support for children ages 6 to 14, but also a space to grow, learn and cultivate their inner treasure. We believe in a holistic education, where spaces for arts, music, performing, meditation, yoga and visualization allow children to explore their inner and outer worlds thru the lens of our core values: creativity, curiosity, eagerness for learning and love for humanity and nature.

After seeing the amazing impact that the program has had in the children of La Carpio, ILORI decided to expend their vision to include children from all over the world. Inspired by the experiences of our day to day work in ILORI, and even in some stories written by the children themselves, our team creates beautiful animations, as well as stories, magazines and educational materials, in which we invite children from all over the world to embrace our values and, little by little, change the world!
