Supporting Container- Women's International Conference in Denmark
A Pleasure Just to be Invited
This past July I was invited to lead the opening workshop at an international women’s retreat in Denmark. There were amazing women from all over Europe as well as the US and South America .
Creating a Container
The workshop began with an exercise called Creating a Container. We started sitting in a circle and sharing what we brought and what we wanted to take away from the weekend. While we expressed this each person picked a ceramic bead and placed it in our retreat container. After everyone had the chance to share we breathed and took a moment to imagine who supports us, and then we shared this in groups of two.
Who Support Us
We moved into an exercise where one women stood in the middle of the circle and two others stood behind to represent her support. Then we moved a layer back to represent who supported the two women representing the support of the initial women. this kept on going until all 30 women were standing as the the support. It was quite inspiring and beautiful.
We then formed groups where women represented their support by drawing it on colored paper and sharing with each other. Some of the sharing was quite moving and so well received and held. We placed our visual representation in the center of the room to bring that support to a collective place.
What a beautiful strong group of spiritual sisters. What an honor it was to be in the presence of so many dynamic women from around our world. The next two days were amazing with great workshops, conversations, and a beautiful retreat site in the countryside of Denmark.
